PowerWell Services Partners with SAP® and Axon Solutions To Integrate Their Global Acquisitions

Management of PowerWell Services, one of the only globally positioned companies in the oil and gas industry to focus on all areas of flow management, knew before the company began operation that they would need a highly integrated, robust software system. It would have to support the company’s aggressive plans for organic growth and acquisition. Their search focused on finding a scalable software solution that would provide:

  • One set of books for a growth company, not individual books for each business unit
  • Quick takeover and integration as new business units were added
  • Scalability no matter how big or how fast the company grows

The solution for PowerWell Services was an SAP® All-In-One solution tailored to the needs of an oilfield services firm or drilling business, implemented by EnterSys Group [now Axon Solutions].

Before PowerWell was fully operational EnterSys Group was chartered to build the back-end system that would enable the young company to close the books on its first month of independent operation, all in LESS THAN 90 DAYS. EnterSys Group delivered:

  • A small implementation team that was laser-focused only on the core requirements of the business
  • Strong project management expertise to meet the challenging implementation timeframe
  • Consultants with at least 10 years of oilfield services and SAP experience

The solution implemented for PowerWell Services became the template for EnterSys Group's RDT for Oil & Gas, the first qualified SAP All-In-One solution in the U.S. designed specifically for the Oil & Gas industry. Oilfield services and drilling company employees sometimes change locations every 60 – 90 days. Most sites run 24 hours a day and are manned by employees on a shift-based work schedule. Invoices arrive in a variety of formats and currencies. Global accounting procedures and reporting vary widely.

After their initial acquisition and launch of the SAP solution, PowerWell continued to add companies. Each acquisition required additional functionality and added new personnel, assets, and operations to PowerWell. EnterSys Group continued to extend the base SAP system to integrate each new acquisition quickly and cost-effectively.

Today, as part of The Expro Group, PowerWell provides products and services across the globe. The Expro Group’s management was impressed with the integration of SAP system and EnterSys Group implementation team, and after extended evaluation, strategically decided to convert their existing Tier 1 ERP systems to SAP, as well.
